Conamara Duathlon 2012

Full results here.

Con Doherty from Westport was the convincing winner of the second Conamara Duathlon in An Cheathrú Rua on Saturday [25 February], with Ruaidhrí Geraghty (Galway Tri Club) in second and Patrick Quinn of Ennis Tri Club in third.

The Conamara Duathlon was being organised by local Connemara club, TríSpórt, and the first woman home was TríSpórt member, Derval Devaney.  The second woman home was Edel Tighe of Tri Lakes TC and third was Jean O'Conner of Galway City Harriers.

111 people started the race, over double the number of participants from the last year's debut.
"It's great to see such an increase in numbers since last year," said club chairperson Pádraic Quinn, "and it's a real indication of both how multisport has taken off in the west, and of the impact TríSpórt has had in the local community since the club's inception a year ago."

TríSpórt was established in January 2011 and now has over 70 members, including noted athletes such as Joyce Wolfe, Tom O'Dowd, Marie Ní Bhaoill and Derval Devaney.
In the Conamara Duathlon 40+ categories, Donal Mahon was the first man home, and Jude Donnellan the first female finisher.
